Maggie Campbell Pedersen (ãMCPä) provides the products and services available on the www.maggiecp.com website (the ãSiteä) and is committed to protecting and respecting your privacy. This policy should be read in conjunction with the Siteâs Terms and Conditions of which this forms a part. Any capitalised terms in this policy have the same meaning as set out in those Terms and conditions

This policy sets out the basis on which any personal data MCP collects from you, or that you provide to her through the Site, will be processed by MCP. Please read the following carefully to understand her views and practices regarding your personal data and how MCP will treat it.

For the purpose of the Data Protection Act 1998 (the ãActä), the data controller is Maggie Campbell Pedersen.

 

1.                  INFORMATION MCP MAY COLLECT FROM YOU

MCP may collect and process the following data about you comprising:

• Information that you provide by filling in forms on the Site. This includes information provided at the time of registering to use certain areas of the Site, subscribing to the Periodical, emailing material or requesting further services. MCP may also ask you for when you report a problem with the Site.
• If you contact MCP, she may keep a record of that correspondence.

• MCP may also ask you to complete surveys that she uses for research purposes, although you do not have to respond to them.
• Details of transactions you carry out through the Site and of the fulfilment of your orders.
• Details of your visits to the Site including, but not limited to, traffic data, location data, Weblogs and other communication data, whether this is required for her own billing purposes or otherwise and the resources that you access.

2.                  IP ADDRESSES AND COOKIES

MCP may collect information about your computer, including where available your IP address, operating system and browser type, for system administration and to report aggregate information to any advertisers. This is statistical data about the users' browsing actions and patterns, and does not identify any individual.

For the same reason, MCP may obtain information about your general internet usage by using a cookie file which is stored on the hard drive of your computer. Cookies contain information that is transferred to your computer's hard drive. They help MCP to improve her Site and to deliver a better and more personalised service. They enable MCP:

• To estimate her audience size and usage pattern.
• To store information about your preferences, and so allow MCP to customise the Site according to your individual interests.
• To speed up your searches.
• To recognise you when you return to the Site.

You may refuse to accept cookies by activating the setting on your browser which allows you to refuse the setting of cookies. However, if you select this setting you may be unable to access certain parts of the Site. Unless you have adjusted your browser setting so that it will refuse cookies, MCPâs system will issue cookies when you log on to the Site.

Please note that any advertisers MCP uses may also use cookies, over which MCP has no control.

 

3.                  WHERE MCP STORES YOUR PERSONAL DATA

Because the internet infrastructure is global the data that MCP collects from you may be transferred to, and stored at, a destination outside the European Economic Area ("EEA"). It may also be processed by those operating outside the EEA who work for or on behalf of MCP or for one of her suppliers. Such people may be engaged in, among other things, the fulfilment of your order, the processing of your payment details and the provision of support services. By submitting your personal data, you agree to this transfer, storing or processing. MCP will take all steps reasonably necessary to ensure that your data is treated securely and in accordance with this privacy policy and in accordance with applicable laws.

All information you provide to MCP is stored on secure servers. Any payment transactions will be encrypted using SSL technology.

Unfortunately, the transmission of information via the internet is not completely secure. Although MCP will do her best to protect your personal data, MCP cannot guarantee the security of your data transmitted to her Site; any transmission is at your own risk. Once MCP has received your information, MCP will use strict procedures and security features in accordance with applicable laws to try to prevent unauthorised access.

4.                  USES MADE OF THE INFORMATION

MCP uses information held about you in the following ways:

• To ensure that content from the Site is presented in the most effective manner for you and for your computer.
• To assisting in looking to provide you with information, products or services that you request from MCP or which MCP feels may interest you, where you have consented to be contacted for such purposes.
• To carry out MCPâs obligations arising from any contracts entered into between you and MCP, or as may be required by law.
• To allow you to participate in any interactive features of the service, when you choose to do so.
• To notify you about changes to the service.

MCP may also use your data to provide you with information about goods and services which may be of interest to you and MCP may contact you about these by email, post, telephone or SMS, depending upon your relevant consents provided to MCP.

If you do not want MCP to use your data in this way, or to pass your details on to third parties for marketing purposes, please tick the relevant box situated on the form on which MCP collects your data.

MCP does not disclose information about identifiable individuals to any advertisers, but MCP may provide them with aggregate information about her users (for example, MCP may inform them that 500 men aged under 30 have clicked on their advertisement on any given day). MCP may also use such aggregate information to help advertisers reach the kind of audience they want to target (for example, women in SW1). MCP may make use of the personal data she has collected from you to enable her to comply with any advertisers' wishes by displaying their advertisement to that target audience.

 

5.                  DISCLOSURE OF YOUR INFORMATION

MCP may disclose your personal information to third parties:

• In the event that she sells or buys any business or assets, in which case she may disclose your personal data to the prospective seller or buyer of such business or assets.
• If MCP is under a duty to disclose or share your personal data in order to comply with any legal obligation, or in order to enforce or apply the Terms and Conditions of the Site and other agreements; or to protect the rights, property, or safety of MCPâs business, her customers, or others. This includes exchanging information with companies and organisations for the purposes of fraud protection and credit risk reduction.

6.                  YOUR RIGHTS

You have the right to ask MCP not to process your personal data for marketing purposes. MCP will usually inform you (before collecting your data) if she intends to use your data for such purposes or if she intends to disclose your information to any third party for such purposes. You can exercise your right to prevent such processing by checking certain boxes on the forms she uses to collect your data. The Site may, from time to time, contain links to and from other websites. If you follow a link to any of these websites, please note that these websites have their own privacy policies and that MCP does not accept any responsibility or liability for these policies. Please check these policies before you submit any personal data to these websites.

7.                  ACCESS TO INFORMATION

The Act gives you the right to access information held about you. Your right of access can be exercised in accordance with the Act. Any access request may be subject to a fee of £10 to meet the costs in providing you with details of the information MCP holds about you.

8.                  CHANGES TO MY PRIVACY POLICY

Any changes MCP may make to her privacy policy in the future will be posted on this page and, where appropriate, notified to you by e-mail.
